THe First
open Studio
I moved into this space in may 2022. At one point in time I had a studio in brooklyn at B[x], a large building filled with artist studios. A couple times a year they did open studio events, open to the public (pre-pandemic ofc). I really missed those events, and people were gathering again, and I had my own space- I figured why not just do it myself?
So I did! but not by myself. with the help of Annie who knows a thing or two about event planning, my best friend maddie who painted ‘the great wall’, our friend Doug who knew how to hang art properly, Caroline who showed me how to make a catalog. (to name a few)
And it was a lot to learn, and a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun. I guess thats why I ended up doing it again, and again. Annie stayed on too for a while, as a fellow Hostess practicing her event planning skills for future job opportunities.
eventually i needed to call it something. 19 months later the studio/gallery was dubbed “Dogwater Gallery”
Here is all the documentation I have on the show - and its mostly just the set up. Not sure why I didn’t snap a few pictures of the room? But like I said, a lot to learn.
